Fifteen or so years ago, biologists in Florida studying alligators in Lake Apopka discovered some striking abnormalities in the reproductive anatomy of many male baby ‘gators, including malformed penises and underdeveloped testes. They hypothesized that pesticide contamination of the water resulted in interference in the embryological development of the animals.
